The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight against racism and discrimination worldwide. The tragic events of March 21, 1960, in Sharpeville, South Africa, where 69 peaceful demonstrators were killed by police, highlight the deep injustices of apartheid and the broader struggle for human rights.
Each year, this day serves as a call to action to challenge racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in all forms. Many organizations, governments, and individuals take this opportunity to raise awareness, promote equality, and reaffirm commitments to building inclusive societies.

We celebrate the richness of the French language and the vibrant Francophone communities that shape our society. This month is a time to recognize their contributions, stories, and cultural heritage—both here in Canada and around the world.
Thank you to all Francophone members of VLIP
